Better Nightstands For Your Lifestyle: 3 Questions To Ask Yourself For A Better Bedroom Experience
We spend a lot of our lives in bed. Great bedside furniture can make your hours between waking and sleeping more comfortable.
If you already have nightstands, there are some things you should consider to make them perfect for your needs. If you’re working with an empty room, answer these questions and you’ll end up with bedroom furniture that really works for you.
1) Would you like more storage?
Nightstands are a great place to store iPads, laptops, magazines and books but don’t stop there. You can also store PJ’s, socks, and other apparel. Of course, closed storage works best. So if you already have nightstands with open storage, think about using a lidded basket or decorative box on an open shelf or underneath your nightstands.
If you’re buying new bedside furniture, think about maximizing storage. That may mean buying a chest of drawers to use beside your bed, even if only on one side. Don’t worry about matching furniture. Designers usually prefer mixing furniture pieces for a more collected look.
2) What do you like to place on top of your bedside table?
If it’s a cup that could leave a water mark, perhaps you’d benefit from a glass table top. These can be made at your local glass shop and added to most tables. If you’re tight on space, think about getting rid of table lamps and install wall sconces instead.
3) Can you swap out furniture from another room in your house instead of buying something new?
Small footstools and ottomans tuck next to the bed and are great landing pads for a stack of books. You may have a chest in another room that you could use on one side of your bed. Baskets are great for holding magazines and can tuck in anywhere.
